 Here are the first pics of Chrono Trigger DS on Nintendo DS unveiled by Shonen Jump magazine. The game will apparently be in 2D. I was going to put this behind a text link but changed my mind. found here: Young Ganondorf got me thinking, we don't know much about ganon's story aside from the fact that only one gerudo male is born and he becomes king. but there must be some kind of trials or something. and on top of that (geeky...) in ocarina of time he talks about watching his people starve and suffer in the desert, he HAS to do something to help them as leader right? it could be a more adult zelda game (yea, not going to happen) with a light beginning and it just gets darker as he gets older and becomes king. awesome. |

| Internet Tidal Wave Memo |

Maybe some of you have heard about this, maybe some have even seen it, some probably not. It's a memo Bill Gates sent to his employees in 1995 describing the workings of the then current internet and what it meant to the company. It's a fairly decent memo. Skim through it if you want. The most interesting thing I found about it was what he thought about the competition. Browsing the Web, you find almost no Microsoft file formats. After 10 hours of browsing, I had not seen a single Word .DOC, AVI file, Windows .EXE (other than content viewers), or other Microsoft file format. I did see a great number of Quicktime files. All of the movie studios use them to offer film trailers. Apple benefited by having TCP support before we did and is working hard to build a browser built from OpenDoc components. Apple will push for OpenDoc protocols to be used on the Internet, and is already offering good server configurations. Apple's strength in education gives them a much stronger presence on the Internet than their general market share would suggest. Another popular file format on the Internet is PDF, the short name for Adobe Acrobat files. Even the IRS offers tax forms in PDF format. The limitations of HTML make it impossible to create forms or other documents with rich layout and PDF has become the standard alternative. For now, Acrobat files are really only useful if you print them out, but Adobe is investing heavily in this technology and we may see this change soon. Acrobat and Quicktime are popular on the network because they are cross platform and the readers are free. Once a format gets established it is extremely difficult for another format to come along and even become equally popular. Source (wiki) |

Not like you'd of thought though. GoNintendo reports: It has been one hell of a day for Nintendo fans. Mega Man 9 for WiiWare, a strange Castlevania fighter, a new Adventure Island in the works…what more could you ask for?! The news came at such a fevered-pace…I’m all tuckered out! I am hitting the hay, but I’ll see you guys in a few hours. It’s Friday gang, we made it! Oh, and Adventure Island... megaman as a wiiware and based on the NES classic. Fantastic, i can't believe they didn't think of this earlier. Castlevania as a fight, could be interesting but i'm not to impressed with the idea more than the fact that they're trying new things for the series. i would of loved a psx or ds-esque version for wii. Those games are actually fun. Fighter i'm not too sure about though. So to recap: Megaman 9 for wiiware and Castlevanie: the fighter for wii. ***EDIT*** i just found out megaman 9 will be the first game to be released on all 3 consoles online distribution; wiiware, xla and psn. ***Last Updated 2008-06-27 13:13 by Alex *** |

| Civilization a Racist Game? |

think about it, you play a civilization that goes about conquering other nations through force or intimidation/taking over their culture. in civilization call to power you even went as far as getting slaves from neighboring cities for your cities (one of the best civ's by the way). i never really looked at it as a racist thing though. from the cut scene: But goddamit, am I the only one who think it's morally disturbing to make a game that celebratesColbox COLONIZATION? It's ironic, actually, because just a few months ago a friend sent me a link to some information about the original "Colonization" game from 1994 (pictured left) that this one updates. At first, I thought it had to be a joke, but sure enough, it was real. However, I dismissed it as a relic from a time when neither developers nor players took videogames seriously as media with moral implications. i loved the original colinization game, it was way ahead of it's time and a lot of fun. (can't play it anymore though, from what i remember it requires some kind of whacked out resolution that most gpu's don't support now.) anyway, i think what the author of this is forgetting is the fact that this really happened. it's not glorifying the idea of colonization but raising awareness of it. kind of. i don't see the problem of it. but thanks to this post i now want the game :D |
